Urban Middle-Class Life Styles in Transition

A theoretical framework for understanding the nature and changing character of life styles within the urban middle class is set forth. Although the emphasis is upon clarifying certain issues regarding life styles, many of our conclusions are the product of research being carried out in Austin, Texas.
